Rates

Every Voice Over project is unique, so it's not easy to come up with a one-stop tariff.

However, Rates usually start with a BSF or 'basic studio fee', which covers my preparation time, one hour of recording, the use of my studio, editing, processing, and delivering the files. This is not inclusive of Usage fees, which are calculated separately.

Usage is determined by where and how long for the VoiceOver is going to be used. See below for details, and feel free to get in touch with me with the details of your project for a more bespoke quote.

My standard rates:

BSF (basic studio fee) - £250 - for 1 hour of recording and studio time (applied to corporate, explainer, and audio guide projects)

E-Learning - from 15p per word for raw audio, and 20p per word for fully edited and proofed audio. Minimum order is £200.

Audiobooks - Rate starts at £250 pfh rate for fully edited and proofed audio. £100 pfh for raw and unedited audio handled by an external editor

IVR - £7.50 per individual IVR prompt, at a minimum of 6 at £45

Video Games - Depending on your project, this could be £2-5 per line, or £250 per hour

Dubbing - £200 for the session, plus £0.95 per word

Walla - £100 for a remote session

Usage fees

Different projects have different licensing or usage fees based on where the project is due to be broadcasted. Consider your available budget, and let's have a discussion on how we can meet it.

Corporate/Web/Explainer videos - 75% of BSF in addition to the basic fee, per 1yr of usage.

Audio Books - I do not require a separate usage fee for this, I consider my rate adequate for usage.

Video Games - £400 buyout, however this is dependent on your budget allocated for voice over. If you are intending to make money from your project, then either a distribution share or buyout is required.

Commercials - You can contact my agent to discuss pricing and bookings.

Dubbing/Walla - No buyout or Usage fee required

Rates and Usage are entirely dependent on the project and its budget, but it's helpful to check out the industry guidelines on the Equity Rate site. And you can always contact me for an exact quote.

Revisions/Changes

  • Two rounds of revisions/changes from self-directed sessions are free in the first 10 days of the original recording being sent to you. This can also include minor script changes (for all projects excluding audiobooks).

  • Revisions required after 10 days of the recording being submitted, or due to major script changes (over 50% of the script) would require an additional BSF fee.

  • Additional rounds of revisions within the 10-day period from self-directed sessions would at £125 for a half-hour, or £250 for a full hour, depending on the revisions required.

  • For live-directed sessions, it's recommended to work with direction during the session to get what you want - in my experience, live-directed sessions are much more cost-effective. Any additional retakes required after the session's completion can be worked out using my BSF - £125 for a half-hour, or £250 for a full hour. You are welcome to join me for this, in another live-directed session, or I can do it self-directed.

  • Any changes needed due to technical errors or glitches are always provided free of charge.

Please note: Due to the length of time required to record, Audiobooks are expected to be submitted in their final draft before recording commences. Any changes made to the script will need to be discussed with an additional fee.

Payment:

  • Payment is due within 30 days of invoice via bank transfer (if based in the UK) or Wise transfer - details included on invoice

  • I also accept Paypal, with an additional 5% charge to cover their transfer and conversion fees

  • Please note, for large scale projects that require a lengthy commitment, an advance or deposit may be requested.

Additional Info:

  • License details: The voice over artist's works may be used by the hiring company for the period specified and negotiated, upon which time the works shall cease to be used, or an additional usage payment (equal to the usage payment in the original invoice and agreement) shall be made to the voice over artist.

  • The voice over artist's work provided may only be used for the agreed product or service, and on the agreed platforms or mediums, detailed in the invoice line-items, and not in any additional products or services in the future, unless otherwise stated.

The hiring company may not transfer the works, nor this license to any third party (including he sale of the hiring company itself), without the written consent of the voice over artist (me).

If you're not sure what to ask for, it may be helpful to think about the following:

  • Approximate length/word count of the voice-over script

  • Deadline

  • Accent/dialect or style specifications

  • Do you require a sample recording of your voice over beforehand?

  • Where you intend to broadcast or distribute

As a British Equity member, I follow Equity price guidelines, but as every project is different from the last, it's generally better to chat about the project and pricing, either in person, over email, or over the phone.
